Reimagining the Gallery Experience
Are you looking for a new and exciting way to explore the world of art? Look no further than District Gallery. This unique art space in the Van Aken District is more than just a gallery – it’s a welcoming and inclusive community where art lovers and creators alike can come together to share their passion for creativity and self-expression.
In this Faces of The District episode, we sit down with Gallery Manager, Carolina, and Gallery Assistant Sarah, two of the driving forces behind the District Gallery experience, to discuss their unique approach to curating and showcasing art, and how they are connecting the community through one-of-a-kind pieces.
As graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Art, Carolina, and Sarah not only manage the day-to-day operations at District Gallery, but are also artists themselves. Carolina primarily creates alternative process artwork, mixing film photography with chemistry. You can find several of her pieces on display at District Gallery. Sarah’s background is in illustration, creating artwork for a variety of children’s books. Their passion for art translates into a one-of-a-kind experience for both the members of the community and the artists the gallery features.
Carolina and Sarah are dedicated to putting the human element back into the gallery space.
Carolina says, “We are a space for collaboration, for conversation…We want everyone to feel welcome. We want everyone to ask questions and everyone to be involved.” From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, designed to make you feel at home among the stunning artworks on display.
In addition, the District Gallery team sets themselves apart with their unique approach to curation. Rather than just showcasing well-known artists, Carolina and Sarah actively seek out up-and-coming talent, from local artists in the Cleveland area to exciting new voices from around the world. “We like to have stuff at different price points too. There is something for everyone. Everyone can find a piece that they love,” says Carolina. This commitment to diversity and inclusivity ensures that there’s always something new and exciting to discover at District Gallery.
So why not make your next art adventure a visit to the District Gallery?
